IfwWJ \JTB ill iW I f Double Ring Ceremony Unites Dunn Man And Courtland, Kansas, Girl Miss Eleanor Larson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Larson of Courtland. Kansas, became the bride of Lawrence Langston Sun day, April 29 at 2:30 o’clock in Ada Lutheran Church in' Court land. .Mr. Langston is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Langston of Dunn. The couple spoke their vows be fore the Rev. C. A. Losgren, using the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Wilbert Johnson of Kack ley, Kaifeas, played an organ pre lude before the ceremony. Mr. M. L. Van Gundy sang “I Love You Truly" and “Oh Perfect Love.” During the ceremony "The Lord’s Prayer” was played. The bride entered the church with her father and had as her attendant her sister, Mrs. Harvey Crowell. Best man was John Band, cousin of the bride, and ushers were Arvid Band and Andrew Ol son, also cousins of the bride. The bride wore a gown of white satin featuring a full skirt. The yoke of the dress was outlined with applique lace and the sleeves tap ered into points over her hands. The skirt extended into a long train. She used white satin slippers said carried an arm bouquet of American Beauty roses. The bride’s * attendant wore a blue gown of net over taffeta with matching mitts. She carried a bouquet of yellow gladioli and daisies. The mother of the bride was at tired in a blue crepe dress with black accessories. A corsage of talisman roses was pinned at her shoulder. Immediately following the cere mony the parents of the bride en tertained at a reception in the so cial room of the church. The three-tiered wedding cake, which was baked and decorated by her aunt, Miss Eleanor Olson, was placed on one end of the table. Miss Dorothy Henderson WOMEN OF CHRISTIAN CIRCLE CONDUCT UNIQUE AUCTION SALE An auction sale was held at the meeting of Circle TV of the Hood Memorial Christiaih Church at the home of Mrs. Earl Maynard Mon day evening at 8’ o’clock. Miss Pearl Jemigan gave the devotional and a short talk at the beginning of the meeting. A short business session followed led by Miss Pauline Bell. The auction was then held and the items which had been brought by the members were sold to oth er members in the group. The proceeds will go into a fund for an Educational Building. poured punch. Miss Leota Sandberg was in charge of the guest register and Mrs. James Ricketts and Mrs. Lee Witschi helped with the gifts. During the reception, Mrs. Min nie Fleming played a piano pre lude and the bride’s sister, Mrs. Crowell, sang “Because” and “Al ways.” The Rev. Mr. Losgren and the Rev. Mr. Jacobson gave greet ings. The bride is a graduate of Courtland High School and at tended Brown-Mackie School of Business in Salina, Kansas. At the time of her marriage she was employed in Salina. The bride-groom is a graduate of Dunn High School and is serv ing in the Air Force. Wilboume on Monday evening at 8 o’clock. The home was lovely with ar rangements of spring flowers. After the meeting had been called to order Miss Rachel Clif ford gave the Bible study and la ter led in a discussion of it. ' Mrs. Howard introduced the speakers, Miss Gladys Wood and Miss Flora McQueen. Mrs. E. W. Smith, Circle Chair man called for business after the program and when several items had been discussed turned the 'meeting over to Mrs. Wilboume, the hostess. Coffee and a salad plate was served to the following members: Mrs. J. F. Jemigan, Mrs. Weldon Dorman, Mrs. Howard Kirby, Mrs. Henry Hood, Mrs. Lee Sandlin, Mrs. Mary Edmundson, Mrs. Smith, Miss McQueen, Miss Clif ford and Miss Wood. Oakdale Club Holds Meeting The Oakdale Club held its monthly meeting in the club room on May 4. at 2:00 p. m. with Mes dames Alonzo Coates, Garland Coates, Oliver Ennis and Edison Ennis as cohostesses. The club held open house for several invited guests in obser vance of Home Demonstration Week. Projects representing each month of the year were given to show some of the work done. The meeting was called to order and the group sang, “Hall Club Women, Crowned Through Ser vice.” Mrs. Kirkland Ennis gave the devotional by reading a poem, “Our Mothers,” followed by pray er by Mrs. Alonzo' Coates. The minutes were read and the roll call showed 19 present and 4 ab sent. The project reports were given as follows: Home Beautification, Mrs. David Ennis; Family Life, Mrs. Riley Tew; and Home Dairy, Mrs. Delmer Ennis. Miss Le 1 a Huntly, assistant Home Agent, gave the lesson on “Color in the Home” by using pictures. The hostesses served iced cup cakes and lemonade. Mrs. T. H. Sansom, Mrs. Bill Boles, Mrs. J. N Stephenson, Mrs. J. W. Thornton, and Mrs. Arthur Pope attended a luncheon in Fay etteville Friday sponsored by the Colonial Dames. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Keene and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lassiter,' all of Four Oaks, visited Mrs. I. W. Keene Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Weeks had as their dinner guests Tuesday evening. Youth Fellowship Meeting Held Sunday Evening Sunday evening, May 6, at 6:30 the Methodist Youth Fellowship organization of Divine Street Church met for their regular meet ings. The subject for the evening was “Jrhe Creation.” The meeting open ed with a prayer by AUce Who had charge of the program. “This is My Father’s World”, was sung, the scripture reading. Gen esis I 1-10 was read by May Gib son Whitehead and the pqem “What God Has Promised” was read by Alice Prince. A picture, “The Creation” was shown by the Rev. J. V. Early. Mrs. Frank Spruill and Mrs. Thomas Hobbs gave Information concerning summer camps at Don Lee and at Louisburg. This a ward is given each year by the club. The Dunn club has participated in the state-wide Junior projects. These projects are the sponsoring of the Children’s Home- in Greens boro and the “clothing closet” pro ject. A bridge benefit was held during the year, with the proceeds going to the Children’s Home.
